Glencoe Home Earns LEED Platinum

On Friday, January 27th, a LEED Platinum residential certification will be awarded to Glencoe residents Natalie and Barry Slotnick.  The LEED Platinum certification is the highest level awarded by the US Green Building Council.  The Slotnick's home is only Illinois' second new construction home to achieve this impressive certification.

The Slotnick's home is not only impressively efficient, they went to great lengths to insure that the home adhered to the aesthetic of the surrounding neighborhood.  Nathan Kipnis, of Kipnis Architecture & Planning who designed the home, stated, "The home was built for 40% of the cost of the first LEED platinum home in Illinois and in a style that appeals to a much wider cross section of the public."  Some of the home's green features include; a vegetative green roof; passive ventilation; solar heating and cooling; standing seam metal roofing; cement fiberboard siding; and prefabricated framing.
